The wheel of fortune game show has been around for a while now, but you may not know its history. It was parodied on Saturday Night Live, with Tom Hanks and Tina Fey as Pat Sajak and Vanna White, respectively. In the skit, three contestants are unable to solve the puzzle.
In the 80s, the song “Never Gonna Give You Up” became a hit. The song, sung by Rick Astley, featured a man who said, “I’m never gonna give you up.” The song is about a boy who has lost all hope and dreams but is never giving up. Rick Astley performed the song at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The song was also featured on a float for the Cartoon Network show Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends. The song was certified as number one in the United Kingdom and charted in over 25 countries. It was nominated for the Best British Single award at the 1988 Brit Awards.
