A Video of a Wheel of Fortune Contestant Using the N-Word to Win a Million Dollars Has Been Debunked
A video circulating on YouTube purportedly shows a Wheel of Fortune contestant using the N-word to win a million dollars has been debunked. It was posted by an intrepid fan, probably someone who had access to video editing software. Although the video is a hoax, the underlying message is clear: Wheel of Fortune is a fun game show for the whole family.
The Wheel of Fortune became an inspiration for South Park Season 11. In the episode, titled “With Apologies to Jesse Jackson,” contestant Randy Marsh was a contestant and was one letter away from winning the game. Before the correct answer was revealed, he yelled “N***ers,” causing controversy in the African-American community. The show was subsequently pulled off air.
