In fact, some states allow you to mail your marriage license to your favorite officiant. While you’re at it, consider a ring bearer and maid of honor, as well. This can save a fortune in travel costs and give you more time to spend with your guests.
If you have a small family or friends, you might be able to get away with a low key ceremony. Of course, if you’re the aforementioned eloping couple, you may have to be a little more shrewd about it. After all, it’s your wedding day and your officiant is probably one of the people you’ll most likely be interacting with. It’s also a great way to get some face time with your exes if you’re not looking. Also, some officiants are notoriously nosy. But, it’s a good idea to have at least a few evaluative questions prepared in advance.
