Deep Purple’s Soldier of Fortune Cover
The classic blues rock ballad “Soldier of Fortune” is written by Ritchie Blackmore and David Coverdale and released on Deep Purple’s 1974 album Stormbringer. Although it never reached the charts, the song has gained a cult following. As such, many artists have covered it. Whitesnake released an excellent cover on their 1997 live album Starkers in Tokyo. This version later appeared on the band’s 30th Anniversary Collection and The Purple Album. The band also released the song as a single.
