Davy Crockett Travel Center
History
Davy Crockett, born in Greenville, Tennessee (near present-day Knoxville), left his mark on East Tennessee. He’s renowned for his skill at killing bears in the wild and also famous for fighting Mexicans. Now, a 15-foot statue outside this gas station convenience store commemorates his legacy. Here you can get diesel, unleaded or alternative fuels as well as food and gifts. Though a bit out of the way, staff are friendly and restrooms are clean; plus there’s plenty of parking. Plus there’s an excellent Davy Crockett restaurant featuring pizza and doughnuts!
