Monkey Wrench Smokehouse in Travelers Rest
Travelers Rest has a new favorite restaurant offering wood-smoked BBQ, mouthwatering sides, craft beer and barrel aged cocktails. Monkey Wrench Smokehouse opened this month in downtown Travelers Rest with its patio and back lawn along the Swamp Rabbit Trail.
Loren Frant and Andy O’Mara, owners of Sidewall Pizza Company and Rocket Surgery, have joined their restaurant expertise to open this BBQ joint that promises to be a hit with both locals and visitors alike. And like their other successful eateries, they’ve recently welcomed Steven Musolf as head chef – another testament to Steven’s talent!
O’Mara and Musolf have spent considerable time researching products, recipes and techniques in preparation for opening Monkey Wrench. The couple have experimented with everything from dry rubs to marinades, sauces and more over the past few months. Furthermore, they purchased three J&R brand Oyler smokers that will be monitored 24/7 to achieve their desired flavor profiles.
The menu offers a wide variety of dishes such as BBQ pork, brisket, chicken wings and traditional barbecue sides. Plus there are various salads and sandwiches to choose from as well.
Dairy allergies won’t go hungry at this restaurant; they offer plenty of alternatives, including homemade ice cream treats. Plus, their outdoor dining area is ideal for letting kids run free and take in the fresh air while you eat.
They even offer birthday club coupons that can save you money on meals.
Monkey Wrench offers delicious food and excellent service, plus they have a friendly staff who work hard to make customers feel at home. Their patio is worth visiting Travelers Rest just for this restaurant; you won’t be disappointed.
Traveling and discovering great food for my family and I is something that I enjoy immensely. So far in Thailand, this restaurant has been one of my favorites!
Their burger is one of the best I’ve had and their potato chips are delish! Not to mention their chicken wings which are truly delectable!
They offer a large menu at reasonable prices. Plus, the waiters are extremely friendly and will gladly answer any queries you may have.
The restaurant provides six selections of regional and local beers. Additionally, they have an array of teas and other beverages for customers to choose from.
They are located at 21 South Main Street in Travelers Rest, SC and open Tuesday through Saturday from 5:00 to 9:00pm.
