Smilow Center for Translational Research
The Smilow Center for Translational Research at Yale University’s Perelman School of Medicine and Smilow Cancer Hospital supports research collaborations between basic scientists at Yale and Smilow Cancer Hospital. The center has more than 700 lab workstations. It also houses a translational research office, which facilitates collaborations between clinical scientists and basic scientists.
Perelman School of Medicine
The Smilow Center for Translational Research at Perelman School of Medicine is a new research facility. The new building contains seven levels of faculty offices, labs, conference rooms, multipurpose rooms, and collaborative space. It is located next to the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine and the Roberts Proton Therapy Center. It includes collaboration spaces for scientists, doctors, and patient care teams.
The Smilow Center for Translational Research was designed by Rafael Vinoly Architects. The design of the building is intended to integrate clinical and research functions. The research floors are separated from the clinical floors by a mechanical level. The center features seven floors dedicated to laboratory research. It also houses support spaces.
Smilow Cancer Hospital
The Smilow Cancer Hospital Center for Translation is a multidisciplinary cancer center devoted to cancer research. The team includes nationally recognized clinicians and the latest technologies. The cancer center is comprised of several subspecialties, including medical oncology, radiation oncology, thoracic surgery, digestive disease, pathology, and diagnostic imaging.
The Smilow Cancer Hospital is a comprehensive cancer center with a 14-story, 511,000-square-foot facility. It has a team of medical oncologists, nurses, and scientists who work together to determine the most effective treatment options for each patient. The center offers a variety of treatment options, including chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation. The team also offers conservative monitoring.
More than 700 lab workstations
The Smilow Center for Translational Research at the University of Pennsylvania brings together physician-scientists and basic scientists to accelerate targeted discoveries. The center also houses a medical bioinformatics group that helps researchers analyze and mine large amounts of genetic data. The center shares a 3400 entrance with Penn’s Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine and Roberts Proton Therapy Center.

The Smilow Center for Translational Research is home to 180 research bays and more than 700 laboratory workstations. It houses more than 100 lead researchers and 900 researchers from numerous departments and centers at Penn Medicine. Researchers from many different fields are supported at the center, which is adjacent to the Roberts Proton Therapy Center.
The Smilow Center for Translational Research brings together basic scientists and clinicians to conduct multidisciplinary research. Perelman Center
The Smilow Center for Translational Research is part of the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine. Located next to the Roberts Proton Therapy Center and Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine, the center houses a variety of biomedical research initiatives. This project is a collaboration between Penn Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania Health Systems. The building’s lower five floors act as an extension of the Perelman Center for Advanced Medical Studies.
The building houses more than 900 employees and 100 lead scientists from different departments, centers, and institutes. It also serves as a hub for interdisciplinary research. The Center is also close to Penn Medicine’s patient-care facilities, which facilitates collaboration and ideas exchange.
