Sloatsburg Travel Plaza
Sloatsburg travel plaza is one of the larger and more modernized rest stops along the New York State Thruway. It offers food and services 24/7, a gasoline station, restrooms and a souvenir shop.
Sloatsburg travel plaza is an ideal rest area, especially for those traveling with children and pets. It features various food options like Dunkin Donuts and Burger King as well as Starbucks and a gas station.
Although not the ideal spot for breakfast or lunch, this quick bite option is suitable. Unfortunately, due to major renovation work being done at all Thruway travel plazas, some employees have had to be let go.
Orthodox Jews Utilize Sloatsburg Travel Plaza for Prayers
The plaza has an agreement with Orthodox Jewish men that permits them to offer afternoon and night prayers on the upper level of its parking garage. This move was in response to concerns by state authorities that Orthodox Jewish men were often parking their cars along highway shoulders without supervision from rabbis.
At milepost 33 on the Ohio Tollway, Sloatsburg travel plaza is a landmark destination that was built in 1992 and serves as one of the 27 full service travel plazas along the route. A $96 million investment by Marriott Corporation and the Thruway Authority saw this development take place.
It’s an ideal spot for a cup of coffee or other beverage and snack while waiting to be picked up by your bus. There are plenty of parking spots, plus it’s clean and well-lit.
Situated along the Thruway, miles north of the Tappan Zee Bridge.
