Peoples Club of Nigeria
Peoples Club of Nigeria has been around for a while now, but it’s been a while since it’s been officially on the map. The organization isn’t just for the rich and famous. It’s for people of all walks of life and from all corners of the globe. In fact, it’s a social club, one that provides a number of social and recreational benefits to its members. One of its first official outposts was in Houston, Texas. Today, there are more than 30 branches scattered throughout the states and abroad. While the aforementioned city is the headquarters, other locales include Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, Galveston, Dallas, Austin, and Orlando.
The organization’s motto is “Unity, Merit, and Mutual Assistance.” While its official website says that it has over 60,000 members, it’s not uncommon for members to number in the hundreds. This is primarily due to the aforementioned organizational ethos. But, the best part of being part of the club is that members aren’t required to be members of the same ethnicity, religion or political persuasion.
There are a few ways to measure the organization’s success. First and foremost, the organization has been in the business of providing community service and assistance to its membership, many of whom are from the Igbo race, and thus it’s name. Some examples include the distribution of donated toys for needy kids, and charitable contributions to charity organizations. Despite its modest size, the organization remains a formidable force in the social service realm.
One of the best examples of this is the establishment of the organization’s Houston branch in 1987. A notable figure in the organization’s history was Chief Iheanyi Aguocha, who served as the club’s president for several years. From there, the organization’s fortunes took off. Nowadays, Peoples Club of Nigeria isn’t just about donating a few hundred dollars to charities every now and then. They’ve also branched out with their own casinos, golf courses and sports bars, all of which are available to the public.
If you’re looking for a fun way to socialize, Peoples Club of Nigeria is the place to be. Although its name may be more familiar to residents of Nigeria, the organization has branches in many of the country’s major cities, from Los Angeles to Las Vegas to San Diego.
