Darren Sharper was signed by the Green Bay Packers on February 21, 2001. His signing bonus was $7 million. He had ten combined tackles in the Packers’ 31-23 victory over the Baltimore Ravens. In October 2001, he deflected two passes and returned an interception for a touchdown. Sharper led the Packers’ victory in Super Bowl XLV in February 2010. Mike McCarthy, the Packers’ second-year coach was impressed by Sharper’s performance.

Sharper’s lawyers and federal prosecutors have not responded to messages seeking comment. The plea agreement was outlined in a letter to U.S. District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo by federal prosecutors. Sharper can withdraw his guilty plea but a statement to law enforcement can still be used against Sharper in criminal proceedings. Sharper was an NFC player and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2001. He started all 16 games and had a career-high 113 combined tackles. He led the league in interceptions with nine in 2000. The Pro Bowl selection was a fitting honor for Sharper. Sharper also won the Super Bowl MVP award during his time with the Rams. His ring contains a personalised message from the player.
