Why Does My Baby Hump When She Is Tired

You’re not the only one who notices your child humpy when she’s tired. Parents around the world wonder the same thing. While it’s perfectly normal for a tired baby to hump, it can be frustrating for you and your little one. Thankfully, this is a normal part of child development and will likely pass with time. Here are some ways to remedy the problem. First, try writing down when your baby humps. If she humps at a particular time, it might be a sign that she’s hungry, tired, or wants to use a comfort item.

Another reason a baby may hump is to self-soothe. Humping is a form self-soothing and can be caused by boredom or anxiety. If you notice your baby humping while asleep, try reducing or eliminating these triggers. Your baby might be humping for a blanket or a pacifier. Try putting your baby in a crib if you are unable to get her to hump. If she’s humping because of anxiety, the same steps will apply.

Humping when your baby is tired is a normal part of baby development. Babies do it to self-soothe, so if she is in the middle of a tantrum, think safety first. This behavior can be caused by teething or ear infection, so it’s best to think of a safe place to put her while she’s having her tantrum. A baby who humps when tired is a sign she’s happy and healthy.

It’s common for a baby to huff when she is too tired to pay attention. This could be a sign of self-soothing or a sign she is hungry or bored. While humping may be a sign that your baby is tired, it’s also common for them to hum because they’re bored, hungry, or otherwise not paying attention.

Another way to discourage humping would be to make sure you are busy and not respond to it. If your child is constantly humming for attention, this can intensify the behavior and become more persistent. In these cases, you may need to ignore your child until she is tired. If you don’t notice her hump, leave the room and continue your tasks.

The good news is that this behavior usually passes on quickly and your child will find other ways of self-soothing. You can wait until she’s ready to stop, but it’s better to act now rather than wait until she grows out of it. Even if your baby continues to hump when she’s tired, you can help her learn acceptable ways to soothe herself and avoid being embarrassed around other people.
