Patients are more likely than doctors to raise concerns about sleepiness. While doctors are more likely than patients to discuss blood changes, patients may view sleepiness as a normal state. Patients who report feeling drowsy or mental clouding often don’t get the attention they need. Doctors may change the subject or refuse to talk to them. Fortunately, doctors can exercise considerable discretion over whether or not to define sleepiness reports as medication-related problems.
