How to Create a People Hugging Drawing

Creating a great drawing can be daunting, especially when you’re trying to get the hang of a new medium. To keep things running smoothly, you’ll want to plan out the best way to implement your ideas, while also keeping your work area free of distractions. One of the best ways to do this is to employ a checklist, and keep yourself organized at all times. It’s also worth noting that the more you practice, the easier it’ll be to churn out a masterpiece in the blink of an eye.

There are numerous ways to go about it, and you should be able to come up with a plan of action that suits your needs. For example, you can choose to use one person for the entire picture, or spread it out over a series of frames. You could also choose to have your subject(s) stand up if you prefer. If you opt for the latter, you’ll have to be a bit more creative about your choices, but hey, that’s why you’re there in the first place.

For the purposes of this article, we’re going to focus on drawing two people in the same frame. The next step is to do a bit of research and testing to make sure that your subject(s) aren’t prone to motion sickness. Once you have your subjects lined up, it’s time to get down to business. For example, it’s worth noting that the majority of people who get in these sorts of closeups are males, so if you’re female, a few extra points are in your favor. A word of caution though: if you’re not a fan of a little physical contact, you might be better off sticking with a sitter. And if you’re in the market for new wall art, it’s a good idea to go for a less permanent option. For example, you could use a decoupled frame that is easy to remove and replace, if you’re so inclined.

The biggest challenge is making sure that you include the right people in the right places at the right time. For instance, if you’re creating a drawing of a happy couple, it’s best to avoid having one of them squinting at you as the rest of the picture is taken up by the other half.
