Students from Northeastern universities have a long history of running the Boston Marathon. The Boston Marathon, and several of the Northeastern buildings that line the course, celebrate their 125th anniversaries each year. The Boston Marathon has been a part of the Northeastern Club for Running for many years. Runner Julia Towne had never run a marathon before, but she decided to do so after her freshman year when she took up the sport. She completed her first marathon, the Providence Marathon. She beat the three-hour threshold to qualify for Boston. She finished the Boston Marathon in two hours, 37 minutes and 38 seconds.
