The Rise of the Gif
One of the coolest things to happen in the past few years has been the explosion of the gif. Gifs are small tidbits of code that can be tucked into text messages, emails and even Facebook’s messenger app. Touted as the future of communication, a gif-centric world is akin to a socially-connected mobile phone. As a gif fanatic myself, I’m proud to report that the feisty gif is no longer confined to the ethernet port. Despite a bumpy start, the gif revolution is a happy one. The best part is, it’s not just me. With nearly 700 million gif-lovers in the fold, Giphy is officially on my radar. That’s not to mention the swag that follows in the wake. There is a new found interest in gifs in the office and on the road, if you’re into that kind of thing. Those who’re not may wish to reconsider. Luckily for them, it’s not like Giphy can’t keep up with the juggernauts. This is a good thing, especially if you’re a business that can’t afford to lose a slew of happy customers. Besides, who knows, they might actually pay you to play?
