People who tell fat jokes may not realize how hurtful they can make someone feel. When someone makes a comment about their weight, it becomes ingrained in their minds, and they may begin to believe it. This is an unhelpful, but necessary stigma that we must get rid of. If you’ve ever heard this kind of thing, it’s time you stop.
Obesity is not the only problem people with obesity and overweight face. Stress and anxiety are not as detrimental to one’s overall health. Stress-prone people are not as likely to be treated unfairly in the medical field or discriminated against. It’s time to stop judging fatphobia and celebrate our bodies as they are. This mental disorder can be combated by accepting our fat bodies, celebrating them and standing up against sexist comments about fat.
