Buffer was the sole announcer for World Championship Wrestling’s main events from 2001 to 2001. After the collapse of WCW, Buffer’s contract was terminated with Time Warner’s pay-per-view subscription division, HBO. Buffer was hired to announce two final UFC bouts. Buffer was able find work with other promotions, fortunately, after WCW’s collapse.
Buffer’s popularity grew quickly after her debut on ESPN as a ring announcer. In trademark licensing, she earned $400 million. Sugar Ray Leonard commended her for her efforts in promoting the sport of boxing. She announced the Evander Holyfield vs. Matt Hardy boxing match in 2007.
